This month offers a fun New Orleans style way to play - Mardi Gras! On Fat Tuesday, February 21st, Durham is hosting a downtown Mardi Gras parade, led by the Bulltown Strutters. There are several krewes that are gathering at the CCB Plaza Bull (Major is his name) just before 7PM to parade
in downtown Durham. Then we'll parade to the Riggsbee Street area - Fullsteam and Motorco - for more festivities. Dress up with masks and beads or anything festive, bring a shaker or tambourine, and PLAY Mardi Gras style. Our fun and creative community helps make Durham a wonderful
playground for us to enjoy. Laissez les bon temps rouler!

Last month, our first session, we made collage treasure maps for 2012. This month we'll share watercolor, improv games \, music making and whatever our participants offer...
2nd Sundays, February 12th, 4 - 6 pm offers a safe, fun setting for sharing your creative expression! Join us on Second Sundays, as we co-create a space for musical, visual and performing arts to merge together in a safe community of expression. We will create and share poetry/prose, painting, drawing, theatre improv, storytelling, movement/dance and, of course, music making. Come ready to be inspired! Donation basis.

Family Rhythm Jam , next one is Feb 11th
Last month we had 16 families! We had a rockin' good time
2nd Saturdays, 10-11 am, ages 3 - 9 with fun parents, grandparents and other fun adults. Rhythm fun for the entire family! Just $10/family (cash or check)! We use body percussion, drums, and hand percussion to create rhythmic fun! Stories, rhymes, games, and sometimes puppets, help create this interactive experience. Registration is not required.

Beginning Frame Drumming
Wednesday nights, 4 weeks series, Wednesdays,
Feb 22 - March 14, 7:00 - 8:30 pm

AFRICAN DRUMMING CLASSES
2 levels of West African Drumming Classes
Monday nights, 2 classes, 6 week series. Starts Feb 27th
Start out your New Year with New Friends and group drumming classes! On Monday nights from 7pm-8pm, you can attend new beginner/continuing beginner classes. This class is for anyone new to West African Drumming or wishes to continue where they left off. For the more serious drummers, who have been drumming for a while, and ready to learn not only the Djembe, but also learn how to play the Dununs, intermediate/ advanced classes will be held from 8:15pm-9:45pm.

All classes will be held at The Music Explorium for 6 consecutive Monday nights, starting Feb 27th. The full fee for the beginner session is $80 and the intermediate/advanced session is $110. To register, please send email to ronnie@drumsonfire.com.

Drum Club for Kids is a big success. We finish our classes on Feb 25th. We will offer these classes for 5-8 year olds next Winter (Dec, Jan, Feb) - so stay tuned. It is a series of classes and not a drop-in, so plan ahead for this 8 weeks of excellent rhythm training for our child.
