8:00 - 9:30 PM - Community Rhythm Circle
Adult & teen time! - no children please. This is a time for adults and teens to come together to create spontaneous group music. We'll use drums and all kinds of traditional and innovative hand percussion to create in whatever ways we are moved to create. We have some wild, new fun percussion instruments. Bring your own, too. Our past circles include didgeridoo, Native American flute, violin, kamliba, marimba, Chinese gongs, boomwhackers and boomers; Freenotes, Hang drum (a big favorite), and Suzuki tone chimes, AND lots of found sound/repurposed instruments.
What's a found/sound repurposed instruments? It's finding everyday items in your kitchen, in your recycle bin or yard sales and creating exhilarating musical instruments out of materials that would otherwise be thrown away, recycled or used to hold the sugar.
'We're playin' a lot more than drums! Last month we had a fabulous slide-whistle, kazoo and voice jam! What's next?
Drums and fun hand percussion to loan.

We use all kinds of drums, shakers, wood percussion, bells,. boomwhackers, tone chimes, hung drum, big boomers, voices, and even didgeridoos.
It's an every-age, cross-cultural-multi-racial, every-gender-friends-forever, come-along-and-make-some-noise, hands-on-bang-a-drum, blow-a-didg, ring-a-chime, boom-a-boomer rhythmical activity!!!
Expect the unexpected!
What makes a Rhythm Circle fun?
"The Community Rhythm Circle is a fun, entry-level learning experience that is accessible to anyone who wants to participate. Drum circle participants express themselves collectively using a chorus of tuned drums, percussion, and vocals to create a musical song together having a great time." - Arthur Hull, founder of Village Music Circles |
